Kim Salac is a multimedia artist and filmmaker. Hailing from a Filipino American background, their works take on an intimate lens, often centering family narratives as entry points to unpacking historical memory. Working largely in found footage and appropriation, they seek to explore the meaning of heritage and personal mythologies in negotiating personhood, and homeland. In their more recent trajectory, they are striving to expand their repertoire from one built on colonial grief towards one centering the transformative imagination of queer, femme migrants, as timekeepers long before, and far beyond the confines of colonization.
